Positioning, Branding, and Creative Case Study — Surv

Helping a fast-growing home services franchise trade a mission-first message for a customer promise

How it started

A brand with a big heart and big ambitions

Surv began as a mission-driven business: its founder set out to connect young workers with older homeowners who needed a hand with yard cleanups, junk hauls, and the odd jobs that pile up around a house.

After Cornerstone Franchise Brands acquired Surv, leadership set out to grow its small franchise network into a nationally recognized brand. Surv's own consumer research confirmed what the team suspected: customers loved the service, but the mission-based message wasn't landing. What they cared about was simpler — getting things done.

The audience was shifting, too. Long focused on older adults living alone, Surv was drawing strong interest from busy professionals, young families, and second-home owners. Meanwhile, opinions inside the company were split on everything from the tagline to the name.

To grow with confidence, Surv needed a brand every location could rally around. That's where we came in.

What we did

Listening first

We dug into Surv's consumer research and customer reviews, analyzed competitors, studied how homeowners search for help, and interviewed stakeholders. One thing became clear fast: people don't hire a home services company for its purpose. They hire it for reliability — and stay for the peace of mind.

Hiding in plain sight

Plenty of competitors call their teams trained or insured. None combined everything Surv offers: versatility across everyday home tasks, trained employees instead of gig workers, and the accountability of a national franchise. Surv already had what competitors didn’t; it just wasn’t saying so. That became the heart of the brand essentials we built — mission, vision, values, positioning, voice, messaging pillars, and the tagline Home Projects Done Right.

How it’s going

In December 2025, Surv’s leadership presented the new brand to its board. Then they asked us to help the brand look as clear and confident as it now sounded.

We updated Surv’s brand book with a new visual system. Each of the four service lines now has its own color, so they’re easy to tell apart. We added new typography, a photography style built on real crews in real homes, and patterns inspired by roof shingles and graph paper. Then we showed how it all comes together on vans, door hangers, social posts, and more.

We also wrote new copy for Surv’s website, built around the words homeowners actually search for. That included a template for local franchise pages, so each owner can bring the brand to their own community, and a new homepage design.

Why it matters

In home services, trust is hard to earn and easy to lose. A franchise can't build it if every location tells a different story. We helped Surv turn what it does best into one clear promise that every team can deliver and every homeowner can count on.
